IIT KGP Students Gifted Foreign Internships by Alumni
- US-based IIT Kharagpur Alumni Foundation will help the students of IIT Kharagpur to opt for professional internships abroad.
- As of now, 14 students from the institute have been offered foreign internships in the leading universities of the world.
The US-basedIIT Kharagpur Alumni Foundationhas announced foreign internships for 14 students. Theinternship scholarshipis for candidates who have received offers from top global universities in the year 2018. As per the statement, students of Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur from various disciplines have been awardedforeignscholarshipand research programmes at various prestigious institutes of the world.

The foreign internships are a part of theIIT Kharagpur Foundations Award Program for International Internships. This program was launched earlier in the month of March. It will provide outstanding students with a chance to pursue research abroad which will provide them with international exposure and great career opportunities.
As per the scheme, IIT-KGPF is a nonprofit organization. The headquarter of the same is located at Nebraska and is offering a grant up to $ 3,000. It is a monetary support which is being offered to meritorious students of the institute. The scheme will help the students who wish to pursueinternational researchand opt for professional internships abroad. The scholarships will be processed throughdirect paymentsfor expenses such as stay and airfare. Since most of the students are unable to pursue foreign internships due to few grants available and the expenses are too much.

Kaustav Brahma, B.Tech ECE, IIT KGP is one of the students who has received the scholarship for an internship atMassachusetts Institute of Technology- MIT this year. He said that this is one of the best initiatives as the cost of living and other expenses are so high due to which most of the students are unable to take up research abroad.
