From 1959 to 2018: IIT Madras Enters its Diamond Jubilee Year
IIT Madras, which is one of the top-ranked engineering institutes in India, has entered into its Diamond Jubilee year. The institute has lined up a series of events to celebrate Diamond Jubilee year.
Founded in 1959, IIT Madras , which is known for its academic excellence, cutting-edge research and innovation, has entered into its 60 th year. IIT Madras, which is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee, emerged as the top-ranked engineering institutes for three consecutive years in NIRF Rankings. The constant and collective contribution of faculty, students and alumni over the last six decades has made IIT Madras as a globally recognised education centre of repute.
Expressing his happiness about the institute entering its Diamond Jubilee, Director of IIT Madras, Professor Bhaskar Ramamurthi revealed that the premier institute lined up several initiatives during its Golden Jubilee in 2008. The focus was on each parameter through which the growth of the institute can be measured. As the top-ranked premier engineering institute in the country is entering its Diamond Jubilee, the institute should reach new heights in teaching, research and innovation, he hoped.

As a part of Diamond Jubilee year, IIT Madras has lined up a series of events throughout the year. One of the major events is ‘ Technology Summits ’ in various countries, which will showcase IIT Madras Research & Development (R&D) and innovations. The summits will take place in England, London, Canada and Toronto.
‘ Thematic Conclaves ’ is the other event that will take place in popular cities across the country such as Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai. ‘ Campus Congress ’ is one such unique initiative that will bring together academic leaders from around the world. The premier institute also planned to host ‘ Technology Day ’ on campus to celebrate the IIT Madras start-ups and applied R&D centres.
