IIT Ropar Convocation Ceremony: 173 Degrees Awarded to Students

Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar (IIT Ropar) recently held its annual convocation ceremony where about 173 graduates were awarded different B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc and Ph.D. degrees. Check out the IIT Ropar convocation details here.

On Monday, 3rd December 2018, a total of 173 degrees were awarded to the students at the seventh annual convocation of theIndian Institute of Technology (IIT), Ropar. As per the data released by the college, a total of 19 M.Tech degrees, 24 Ph.D. degrees, 27 M.Sc degrees and 103 B.Tech degrees were awarded to the IIT Ropar students present during the ceremony.

The Best Thesis Award was also given to four students of IIT Ropar. These students had been a part of the Ph.D. course at IIT Ropar in recent years. The awards were presented to namely, Dr. Aru Beri (2016), Dr. Harpreet Singh (2015), Dr. Balwinder Kaur (2016) and Dr. Satyajit Pramanik (2016).

Apart from that, Mr. Devendra Pratap Yadav who belonged to the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) was awarded the President of India Gold Medal amongst all the graduating students of B.Tech this year. Deepak Attri, who is from the Department of Electrical Engineering was also honoured with the Director's Gold Medal.

IIT Ropar also awarded silver medals to students namely Deepak Attri from B.Tech, Apoorv Kushwaha from M.Sc, Raghvendra Kumar Dwivedi from M.Tech, Manoj Kumar from M.Sc, Lalit Pandey from M.Sc courses.

IIT Ropar which was established in 2008 has witnessed overall growth nationally and internationally by virtue of its research initiatives. Over the past few years, IIT Ropar has excelled in the areas of student and faculty achievements, research, and international collaborations. There has also been a tremendous growth of the institute with respect to student strength and faculty. The scholars and the faculty members of the institute have published 308 papers in high impact international journals. Every year the number of the of Ph.D. students graduating from IIT Ropar is also increasing. The number has increased from 331 students (previous year) to 389 students this year.
