Indian Law Institute Delhi Gets NAAC Accreditation

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council or NAAC has accredited Indian Law Institute located in Delhi with ‘A’ grade. The college has been granted accreditation based on the report of NAAC Peer Team. The result of the NAAC assessment will be valid for the next five years. Indian Law Institute got a CGPA of 3.35 from NAAC.

One of the officials of Indian Law Institute revealed that the peer team of NAAC inspected the infrastructure related to general administration, library, information technology, academics and examination. The institute had submitted the self-study report for NAAC accreditation on October 19, 2016.

Indian Law Institute came into existence in 1956 and it was granted the status of deemed university in the year 2004. The institute launched a Ph.D. and two-year full-time LLM course after becoming a deemed university. Indian Law Institute also launched a three-year LLM programme (evening) and one-year full-time LLM programme in 2013-14. However, the institute scrapped all the courses except one-year LLM programme during the 2016-17 academic session.

Apart from LLM course, the institute also offers PGD and online certificate courses in Alternative Dispute Resolution, Intellectual Property Rights Law, Cyber Law, Corporate Law and Management and others.

Recently, HRD Ministry announced that the institutes can apply for deemed university status if they have good NAAC grade for three consecutive times. Now, it is very easy for the institutes to bag deemed varsity status as the norms have been relaxed. On the other hand, UGC is going to undergo various changes through which top performing institutes will get more autonomy.
