A media report suggested that hundreds of Indian nurses practising in UAE with Diploma Certificates were on the verge of losing their jobs due to the newly implemented educational policy.

A report from the Gulf News brought the fact forward that the United Arab Emirates have made Bachelors Degree in Nursing mandatory for the country and for this decision, 200 nurses already lost their jobs while many others were demoted. The victims of this policy revise informed that the nurses who were demoted are now required to do a course in Post Basic B.Sc Nursing from any university of UAE to retain their jobs within 2020.

The nurses are facing another issue as their equivalency certificate or diploma courses are being rejected even after joining the university in UAE which has landed them in an unfavourable condition of confusion and perplexity.

The Ministry of Education (MoE) of UAE used to issue the equivalency certificate to the Nurses graduated from Kerala. However, the same, issued by the MoE are being rejected now. This happened to be the only nursing council (of Kerala) which was recognised by the UAE. The Indian state also sends the highest number of nurses in the gulf countries.

One of the affected nurses informed the most number of nurses in UAE hail from Kerala. However, other nurses hailing from other states are also facing the same issue.

As they already lost their jobs, the fact of bearing the cost of education in UAE is also a matter of concern for the Indian Nurses as they do not have any other way to join another job putting them in a tough situation.

The nurses have informed that they seek urgent intervention in the matter.
