- Students who join B.Tech + M.Tech dual degree programme at IIT-M will have a chance to opt for Interdisciplinary Dual Degree Programme.
- The students who have a minimum of CGPA 8 in the beginning of the fifth semester will have a chance to upgrade their dual degree.
Students who wish to joinIndian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT Madras)this year will have an opportunity to upgrade their dual degree programme to an interdisciplinary one. The move taken by the institute is an addition to the current dual degree programme.
Flexible Benefits of Interdisciplinary Dual Degree of IIT Madras: -
- Students who join B.Tech + M.Tech dual degree programme at IIT Madras will have a chance to opt for Interdisciplinary Dual Degree Programme.
- These students will complete five-year dual degree course, and receive B.Tech degree from the parent discipline.
- However, these students will receive M.Tech degree in an interdisciplinary programme.
- The students who have a minimum of CGPA 8 in the beginning of the fifth semester will have chance to upgrade their dual degree programme into Inter-Disciplinary Dual Degree Programme.

Director of IIT Madras, Bhaskar Ramamurthi revealed that the objective of the institute is to offer more flexibility in education. The UG and Dual Degree students of IIT Madras can gain dual degree in the highly sought domains that include -
