JAB (Joint Admission’s Board) is going to convene a meeting on July 17, 2020, and some important decisions are lined up with regard to the JEE Advanced 2020. With an aim to ensure social distancing, the exam format or pattern is expected to be revised. At the same time, the syllabus is expected to be reduced to minimize the burden on students. JAB is going to discuss the following topics in the meeting scheduled on July 17, 2020.

Relaxation in Board Exam Marks Criteria

JAB has discussed the relaxation in the board exam marks criteria where 75% in board exams is mandatory to appear for the JEE Advanced exam. More details with regard to the same can be checked by clicking on the link below.

Will JEE Advanced 2020 Exam Pattern/ Format be Changed?

JAB will discuss the changes in JEE Advanced 2020 format to ensure social distancing. The exam is divided into two papers, i.e., paper 1 and 2. While the Paper 1 exam takes place in the morning session, Paper 2 takes place in the afternoon session. The duration of each paper is 3 hours. With the increase in the number of Covid-19cases, IITs are planning to conduct only one paper instead of two this year. The final decision with regard to the same shall be taken on July 17, 2020.

Will JEE Advanced 2020 Syllabus be Reduced?

JAB will also discuss on the reduction of the syllabus of JEE Advanced 2020 to reduce the stress on students. However, most students have already appeared for JEE Main and prepared full syllabus. Changing syllabus at this point of time may not help students according to experts. The decision on JEE Advanced 2021 syllabus will be also taken during the meeting.

Alternative Measures if JEE Advanced 2020 is Cancelled

JAB will also discuss alternative measures if JEE Advanced 2020 scheduled on September 27, 2020, is cancelled. The board will discuss the alternative admission process and academic calendar.

The final decision of JAB on the above issues will be updated on July 17, 2020. For the latest JEE Advanced news, stay tuned to CollegeDekho.
