Jammu & Kashmir: 28 Students of the Army’s Super-40 Initiative Qualify JEE Main

The Super-40 initiative started by the Indian Army has helped 28 students in clearing the JEE Main 2017 exam. According to an army spokesperson, the performance of 2017’s batch was the best so far as the highest number of students qualified the exam this year.

In 2017, 10 students from North Kashmir, nine from South Kashmir, 7 from Kargil-Ladakh region and 2 students from Jammu have cleared JEE Main 2017.

The initiative to provide coaching and exam related assistance was started in Srinagar in the year 2013. Engineering aspirants in the state are guided by Centre for Social Responsibility and Learning (CSRL) and Petronet LNG in order to clear the exam. Both the organisations have collaborated with the army to provide training.

The army spokesperson also added that this year five girls from the Kashmir Valley have also qualified the exam. These girls had enrolled for coaching classes in Delhi. Out of these, 2 girls had cleared JEE Main 2017.

Despite numerous disruptions in the Kashmir Valley, the coaching classes were not stopped. The stipulated schedule was followed, added the spokesperson. He also informed that the students were selected by the army through an entrance test and interviews conducted at various schools in the state.

He further added that the outstanding result achieved this year is a result of the careful selection procedure, excellent training programme, personalised guidance and affordable living and study environment offered to aspirants at zero cost. From this year, the student intake will be raised up to 50.
