Engineering is not often the foremost choice of students who qualify JEE Advanced exam . IITians not getting the courses they desired seems ironical. As the wiser men have said, one does not get everything one wants, not even IITians. One such example is the 2014 JEE Advanced topper , Chitraang Murdia, who had different dreams than studying at one of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

Chitraang secured AIR 1 in JEE advanced 2014 and started pursuing B.Tech in Computer Science at IIT-Bombay. Although the topper found computer interesting, his heart was elsewhere. His primary aspiration was to pursue a career in quantum theory.

A passion for physics and the desire to make a career in this field, Chitraang decided to quit the course at IIT Bombay and follow his heart. Talking about his decision, he said that he wanted to study Physics and later pursue research. His friends and acquaintances were shocked by his decision, he reported.

Talking about the hardships faced by students in India, Chitraang said that students who are good in Mathematics and Physics often follow the heard and choose engineering in electrical and computer science due to societal pressure and hopes to get a career boost. If these students are given an opportunity to pursue the courses of their preferences, it will amplify their confidence, he added.
