Kirori Mal College to Get Women's Hostel
Kirori Mal College to get a women's hostel to accommodate outstation students. The college has approached UGC and the Union Human Resource Development Ministry for the funds. It also plans to approach its alumni network for the same.
Kirori Mal College,Delhi Universitywill finally receive a campus accommodation after sixty-years of its establishment. According to the college authorities, the main challenge in their way is to raise the funds for the same.
Dr. Vibha Singh Chauhan, PrincipalKirori Mal Collegeinformed that the college authorities are planning to come up with a four-storey hostel building which can accommodate over 250 students.
She further informed that the college has marked space on the campus for the hostel and around Rs.10 crore of funds are required for the same. The college still has another round of internal clearance left after which they will start raising funds.

As of now, KMC has a boys hostel which can accommodate 300 students while the total student strength is around 5,000. Out of 5,000, almost half are women students.
Over three-fourth of the students in the college come from outside Delhi due to which there is an urgent need for hostels to accommodate these students.
According to the Principal, the lack of campus accommodation is one of the serious problems for Delhi University students. This is because a large proportion of students in the University of Delhi are not from the capital state.

Meanwhile, the college approachedUGCand the Union Human Resource Development Ministry for the funds. However, the college is planning to raise the required funds by approaching its alumni work.
