Liberal Arts University to be Set Up in Andhra Pradesh Soon
- Former RBI Governor and popular corporate leaders have come forward to set up Kera University in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.
- The university will offer B.A (Honours) and B.Sc (Honours) course from June 2019.
A world-class university of liberal arts will be set up in Sri City (Chittoor), Andhra Pradesh soon. Popular corporate leaders, academics and former Governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) teamed up to establish Kera University at Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. The new university will play a dominant role in transforming the undergraduate education.
Chairperson of IndusInd Bank and Chairman of Supervisory Board of the varsity, Mr. R. Seshasayee revealed that the proposed world-class liberal arts university will attract an initial investment of Rs. 750 crore in the first phase. The corporate leaders have come forward to set up the university as a part of their philanthrophist activities.

The first batch of Kera University, Andhra Pradesh will start functioning from July 2019. The admission process for the first batch will begin in November 2018. The annual fee structure has been fixed at Rs. 7 to 8 lakh inclusive of hostel facilities. The admission process will be based completely base on merit. The marks scored by candidates in Intermediate or Class 12 will not be the only criterion for giving admission. Academic performance, achievements and skills of the candidates will also be taken into consideration for the final admission.
Initially, the varsity will run courses from the campus of IFRM institute, located in Sri City. The permanent campus of Kera University will be ready by 2020. The world-class liberal arts university will be spread over 200-acres.
For the first batch that will begin in June 2019, Kera University will offer four-year Under Graduate (UG) residential programme in liberal arts and sciences such as B.A (Honours) and B.Sc (Honours) courses. Already, UGC permission has been sought to run these courses from the next year.
