53 Awarded Doctoral Degrees at LPU's 10th Convocation
LPU awarded 53 doctoral degrees and also handed over degrees and diplomas to 19,977 distance and regular education students of the 2018 and 2019 batch. Dr. Michael Ashwin Satyandre Adhin, VP of the Republic of Suriname was the chief guest at the convocation.
The 10th annual convocation of Lovely Professional University (LPU) took place on September 18, 2019. The chief guest at the convocation was the VP of the Republic of Suriname, Dr Michael Ashwin Satyandre Adhin, There were 51 gold medallists, 53 PhD holders and 123 academic toppers. Also, degrees and diplomas were handed over to 51 gold medallists, 53 PhD holders, 123 academic toppers and 19,9777 distance and regular education students of the 2018 and 19 batches.
The chairman of Lovely Group, Ramesh Mittal and the vice-chairman, Naresh Mittal, along with the chancellor Ashok Mittal were also present. The 36-year-old chief guest Adhin is the youngest VP in the history of Suriname. He encouraged the youth with the message, “Arise, awake and don't stop until the goal is achieved.”

He also mentioned that the Indian diaspora Surinamese look forward to making use of the opportunities at their disposal to enhance their cultural and economic relations with India. LPU was set up in 2005 in Punjab. It is seen as the largest single-campus private university in India. The LPU campus is spread over an area of 6000 acres. It is recognised by the UGC, NCTE and COA. It has also been approved by the Pharmacy Council of India. LPU has more than 30,000 students, 4000 faculty members, and offers 200+ programmes.

There are more than 80 companies which recruit from LPU and the university also has tie-ups with more than 200 global universities. Many students from LPU are placed with top MNCs in the UK, USA, Australia, Canada and India.
