Madhya Pradesh: SC Orders Status Quo on Medical Counselling
Currently, the order of status quo will apply to the counselling conducted by private colleges as well as centralised counselling carried out by the state government.
The Supreme Court has ordered the government of Madhya Pradesh status quo in admission to undergraduate medical courses in private medical colleges. The plea was filed by the government as private colleges are not admitting the students by centralised counselling.
The constitution bench headed by Justice Anil R Dave has issued a notice to the private colleges and deemed universities. Currently, the order of status quo will apply to the counselling conducted by private colleges as well as centralised counselling carried out by the state government.

Earlier, Saurabh Mishra, a lawyer said the bench that private medical colleges had issued notices in newspapers which reported that students have to take part in the separate counselling conducted by the colleges rather than centralised counselling. He mentioned that these colleges had published notices in the newspaper on September 2, 2016.

The petition also mentioned that the private colleges are conducting separate counselling and stated that the admission process that is being carried out by the state was not accordance with law.
