The state government is also planning to issue an ordinance to include deemed universities in the common counselling process conducted for admissions to 85% of their undergraduate seats.

Director of Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Pravin Shingare said that 50% seats would be filled by the state government in PG colleges of the state and the remaining 50% will be retained by managements of the colleges. The undergraduate admissions will commence only after NEET-UG results are declared in the month of June. But a government resolution alone is not enough. Last year, a centralised UG admissions process in deemed colleges was challenged in Bombay High Court. Therefore the state government is working on to issue an ordinance for the inclusion of the deemed colleges in the purview of the Admissions' Act before this year's commencement of the admission.

  • There are 900 PG medical seats in the private medical colleges of which state government will fill 450 seats.
  • Of the 1,100 PG seats in deemed medical universities of the state, 550 will be filled by the state government.
  • Of the 1,200 PG seats in the state government medical colleges, 100% will be filled by the state government.

Now, the medical aspirants' parents want a centralised counselling process both in private medical colleges and deemed universities and subsequently wish that it is followed for the undergraduate courses also.
