Here is another glitch to the admission process of law colleges of Maharashtra. Several candidates may lose their allotted seats in the fourth round as the Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell of the state will now run the fourth round again after it found faults in the automated seat allocation system.

The CET Cell has issued a notice explaining that it found ‘machine errors’ in the allocation process of the seat. The move came following several complaints from several candidates.

The students complained that their reserved seats were allocated to students belonging to general category students.

A notice from the CET said that so as to ensure transparency in the admission process, it was intimated to the principals and the candidates that if any machine error is brought to the notice of the authority, the competent authority will take action. As per the notice, seat allotments of the fourth round are subject to alteration, cancellation, and modification. A new fresh allocation list will be displayed soon for three and five-year LLB courses.

Several candidates with a high percentage of marks had not been allocated seats because of the machine error .They will be allocated seats according to their preference, said CET Cell Commissioner Chandrashekhar Oak. He also said that if a candidate with higher merit is eligible for a seat, and if the candidate's seat has been allotted to a candidate with lower marks, then the latter’s allotment will be cancelled. Candidates who are not allotted any seats in the fourth round will have to wait for the fifth round. They will be allowed to change preferences according to vacancies.
