Mangalore University Grants Affiliation to 11 New Colleges
The local inquiry committee of the varsity had visited all the eleven colleges to confirm whether they have been granted affiliation or not.
Mangalore University has granted affiliation to 11 new colleges. The decision to grant affiliation was taken at the Academic Council meet that was held recently. As per the report that was given by Mangalore University, a total of three colleges applied for permanent affiliation, 121 private and 36 government colleges applied for renewal.
Some of the new colleges that are affiliated to Mangalore University are listed below: -
- AJ Institute of Speech and Hearing
- Dr. BB Hegde First Grade Evening College
- Coorg Institute of Hospitality Sciences
- S.S. Degree College
- Medha College
- Anugraha Women’s First Grade College

The local inquiry committee of the varsity had visited all the eleven colleges to confirm whether they have been granted affiliation or not. The observations made by the committee were discussed in the Academic Council meet and the final decision was taken. The committee made observations based on various factors including staff, infrastructure, library, seat intake and others.
With the new addition, the number of colleges affiliated to Mangalore University increased to 226. Among the 226 colleges affiliated to MU, 150 are private colleges, 36 government colleges, four constituent colleges, five autonomous colleges, 19 B.E/ B.PEd colleges and 37 government colleges.

During the Budget session of the Parliament, Arun Jaitley, Finance Minister announced that the government has plans to grant more autonomy to colleges. however, the institutes need to achieve three consecutive good grades from National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) to seek autonomy status.
