MS Law College to Become a Full-fledged University: Odisha CM
- Madhusudan Law College will be upgraded into a full-time law university so that students of Odisha state get wider opportunities in the field of law.
- The Chief Minister is planning to establish an Advocates Academy in Cuttack for training and skill development.
The Odisha state government is planning to upgrade the Madhusudan Law College to a law university so that interested students can get better opportunities within the state. Madhusudan Law College is regarded as the premier law teaching institute in Cuttack which will soon be converted to a Law University. The college was established in 1869 with a diploma programme. Now, the institute offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in law along with a five years integrated BA + LLB programme.
Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister of the state also plans to establish an Advocates Academy in Cuttack for the purpose of training and skill development of lawyers in the state. The Advocate’s Welfare Fund will be enhanced to Rs. 5 crore from Rs. 3 crore from the next financial year.

The Chief Minister further highlighted other achievements of his government. They have introduced several steps to make the judicial process accessible to those in need and have also established special courts for women, ST/SC communities and appointment of judicial officers.

A Madhubabu Again Sahayata (legal aid cell) has been established at the panchayat level is one of the greatest initiatives of Odisha state government to provide easy access to justice to the marginalized and weaker sections of the society. This initiative of the government will offer door to door help to those who need assistance in matters related to law.
