Nagpur University Scraps Rule Barring AKTK Students from Appearing in Final Examinations
Vice-Chancellor of Nagpur University, S.P. Kane revealed that there was an error in the previous rule and the amendment has been made on March 15, 2017.
It is a good news for the students of Nagpur University as the varsity has scrapped the controversial rule barring Allowed to Keep Term (ATKT) students from taking final examinations of degree courses in Education.
The varsity has dropped the rule and the candidates who have been ‘allowed to keep term’ can appear for final examinations of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), Master of Education (M.Ed) and Master of Physical Education (M.P.Ed) courses.
Vice-Chancellor of Nagpur University, S.P. Kane revealed that there was an error in the previous rule and the amendment has been made on March 15, 2017. The varsity has rectified the error and amended the rule through a corrigendum by using the special powers of Vice-Chancellor.

Mr. S.P. Kane further clarified that the rule was based on Nagpur University’s Ordinance 10. The Vice-Chancellor of the varsity has the special powers to modify the rule if it does not consonance with ordinance, directives, statutes or the Act.
The rule that was framed earlier violated Ordinance 10 of Nagpur University prescribing the ATKT norms. Through the rule that was framed earlier, the candidates needed to clear 50 subjects or 2/3rd in order to appear for final examinations.

Nagpur University has implemented Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) for Master of Education (M.Ed) course from the academic session 2015-17. Similarly, the CBCS has been implemented for Master of Physical Education (M.P.Ed) course from the academic session 2016-17.
As per the Standard of Passing in the curriculum of M.Ed students, they are not allowed to appear for final examination unless they clear all the subjects in the previous semesters.
