National Law University or NLU located in Himachal Pradesh is planning to launch new courses by developing the infrastructure to meet the needs of newly introduced courses. The new courses which NLU planned to introduce are Ph.D. in Law, LLB (Corporate) and five-year law courses. The plan is to launch these courses from the next academic session.

The decision came from a meeting that was held on January 1, 2017, at Himachal Pradesh High Court. Mansoor Ahmed Mir, Chief Justice, as well as Chancellor of NLU, presided over the meet. NLU started functioning from the year 2016 and therefore the varsity decided to expand its sphere by launching new courses.

Various other issues were also discussed at the meeting apart from launching new courses. Issues like overall development of the varsity, recruitment of faculty members, improvement of infrastructure and appointment of ministerial staff were stressed upon.

The introduction of Ph.D., LLB (Corporate) and five-year law courses will benefit the students in the region to get admission in the varsity instead to going to distant places.

On the other hand, the online application process for Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2017 has started on January 1, 2017. The registrations are open for both UG & PG law courses. CLAT is a national level entrance or admission test that is being conducted every year for the admission to law courses in 18 universities across the country. The aspirants must note that the last date for applying for CLAT 2017 is March 31, 2017.
