NCERT Regional Institute of Education to be Established in Andhra Pradesh
The Vice-President of India, Venkaiah Naidu has suggested MHRD to set up the long-promised NCERT Regional Institute of Education in AP.The establishment of the institute will be part of the AP Reorganisation Act.
Vice-President of India, Venkaiah Naidu has suggested MHRD to set up NCERT Regional Institute of Education in Andhra Pradesh.
The Vice-President had urged the Union Minister of MHRD, Ramesh Pokhriyal to put in the necessary efforts to enhance the Centre of Excellence for Studies in Classical Telugu which has been situated at the Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) in the city of Mysuru. He added that the centre must be shifted to a new place in either of Telugu-language-speaking states, i.e. Telangana or Andhra Pradesh.
The Vice-President, Venkaiah Naidu also suggested Union Minister to establish the other educational institutions that have been authorised under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. As per sources, Ramesh Pokhriyal has stated that the suggestions made by the Vice-President will be taken into consideration and efforts to establish and enhance educational institutions as per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act will be made.
On 27th December 2016, Venkaiah Naidu was the Union Minister of Urban Development while Prakash Javadekar had been the HRD Minister. Both the Ministers, together had been responsible for laying down the foundation stone for the NCERT Regional Institute of Education. As per the agreement that had been made for the establishment of the institute, the institute will stand as a base or as an institute where B.Sc B.ed, BA B.Ed, M.Ed as well as PhD programmes will be offered to aspirants of the state.

The basic aim of setting up the NCERT Regional Institute of Education was to help in facilitating capacity building teachers as well as teacher educators. This will also help in promoting different schemes such as RMSA, SSA as well as ICT in the schools across the nation. To facilitate the establishment of the institution, the Government of India had given the institute with 50 acres of land near the National Highway at Kanupuru Bit-II nearby to NH16, Venkatachalam, Nellore in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Currently, various schools in India, especially the Government-run schools in India have been facing a shortage in the number of teachers teaching the students the various subjects. With large opening and vacancies of teachers’ posts available in the government schools across the nation, the establishment of the NCERT Regional Institute of Education will facilitate the filling up of these posts.
