NEET 2018: Tamil Nadu Among States With Lowest Pass Percentage

According to the reports, 45336 candidates have cleared the NEET 2018 exam in Tamil Nadu. Around 1,20,000 candidates from the state registered for the exam out of which only 114602 candidates appeared in the examination.

The state topper of the NEET exam is Keerthana K who is also the All India third topper within the female aspirants. She has secured 676 out of 720 and has also secured AIR 12 with a percentile score of 99.998976.

The overall pass percentage of the NEET 2018 is 56.26%. Nagaland has witnessed the lowest pass percentage in NEET examination i.e. only 29.3% students have cleared the exam followed by Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra as the same pass percentage of 39.55%.

This year around 3,500 NEET aspirants from the state had to travel all the way to Kerala to appear in the exam which also caused protests from various opposing groups.

According to the counter-affidavit filed by Secretary of Department of Health and Family Welfare in Madras High Court, around 1400 agitations had been reported in the state against the NEET examination.

The anti-NEET protests in Tamil Nadu started when a Dalit medical aspirant committed suicide. Anitha was a 17-year-old Dalit girl who had appealed to the Supreme Court against National Entrance-cum-Eligibility Test (NEET) allegedly committed suicide last year. She was a state board student had scored 98% marks in class 12 board examinations. But, did not manage to score well in NEET exam.
