NTA releases the NEET 2023 State Wise Merit List & Rank List on its official website. The list is prepared based on individual scores obtained by candidates in the entrance exam. On the basis of their ranks, students will then be shortlisted for the counselling process for 85% State Quota seats and 15% All India Quota seats, and all seats in AIIMS, JIPMER, AFMS/ESIC, and central/deemed universities.
NEET state-wise merit list 2023, prepared by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) will be elemental in deciding the medical colleges that students can avail of on the basis of their NEET score. Following the announcement of the state-wise merit list, students will have to appear for the NEET Counselling 2023, which will be conducted by the state medical council or state conducting authority. Candidates must note that the NEET 2023 Counselling Schedule is out. The entire process including round 1, round 2, round 3 and stray vacancy round will be conducted from July 20 to September 30, 2023.

Types of NEET 2023 State Wise Merit List & Rank List
The merit list for NTA NEET comprises the following categories:
NEET 2023 Merit List - All India Rank (AIR): This list enlists candidates' names along with their overall ranks, disregarding their category or stance on the AIQ reservation.
NEET 2023 Merit List - All India Quota (15% AIQ): The AIQ merit list showcases candidates eligible for the 15% seats designated under the AIQ. However, this list does not include applicants from Jammu & Kashmir. Candidates from J&K who aspire to apply for All India Quota seats must submit a self-declaration form, duly signed. Subsequently, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on behalf of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will manage counseling based on the AIQ rank achieved by candidates.
NEET 2023 Merit List – 85% State Quota: The State Quota merit list is compiled by respective state medical councils to allocate 85% seats to candidates hailing from the state. This allocation is determined by factors such as the candidate's eligibility and domicile status. It reflects a comparison of ranks attained by candidates within the same state.

Process for Announcing State-wise NEET Merit Lists in 2023:
Transfer of CBSE's Qualified Candidates List: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) provides the list of candidates who have successfully cleared NEET to the respective state conducting authority.
Inclusion of Domicile Details: This list encompasses information regarding candidates' domicile, ensuring a comprehensive view of their origin.
Compilation of Final State-wise Merit List: The state authority then formulates the definitive merit list, adhering to reservation policies, a set of eligibility criteria, as well as specific admission protocols and regulations unique to each state.
Conducting State Counselling: The state conducting authority is responsible for hosting counseling sessions based on the merit list they have released. This list forms the foundation for candidate selection in accordance with the established norms and guidelines.
Tie-Breaker Criteria Applicable for NEET Merit List & Rank List 2023
In the NEET State-wise Rank List 2023, the following process will be followed to resolve any tie-break situations:
- Priority will be given to the candidate who has obtained a higher score in Biology (Botany & Zoology) followed by Chemistry and Physics subjects.
- In case there is still a tie, the candidates with fewer mistakes in their answer paper will be given an advantage and assigned a higher rank.
- If the tie persists even after considering the above measures, the candidate who has secured fewer negative marks in biology will be assigned a better rank followed by chemistry and physics subjects.
