New University of Haryana Named After Guru Gobind Singh

Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar announced the establishment of a university in the northern part of the Haryana. The announcement was made on on Sunday, 12 February 2017. The minister also informed that the university will be named after the tenth Sikh guru-Guru Gobind Singh.

Addressing a huge state level function, on the occasion of ‘Prakash Utsav’- 350th birth anniversary celebrations, CM paid his rich tributes to Guru Gobind Singh and announced to open three new passport offices at Hisar, Faridabad and Karnal. With these, there will be five such offices in Haryana.

The Chief Minister said that he had requested Sushma Swaraj, Minister for External Affairs, that as people have to visit Gurgaon and Chandigarh to get their passports, another three new offices should be opened so that the people don’t require to travel far for to get their passports. The move will save both the time and energy of people.

On the occasion, he also announced that the Assandh Government College would be named after Baba Fateh Singh, who was the younger son of Guru Gobind Singh. Regarding filling up of the vacant post, he said all the 397 vacant posts of PGT and 392 posts of TGT in Punjabi in the government schools of Haryana would soon be filled up.

Another college will be established at Lakhnaur Sahib after the name of tenth Guru's mother and it will be called Mata Gujri. The road from Lakhnaur Sahib to Manav Chowk in Ambala via Barala will also be renamed after Mata Gujri.

He also said that road connecting Nada Sahib to Poanta Sahib would be named after Guru Govind Singh. The CM further said the no other previous government had celebrated Sikh Utsav in such grand manner, as done by his BJP Government.
