O. P. Jindal Global University has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the University of Wollongong, Australia. The partnership will facilitate student and faculty exchange programmes which will help students get more exposure and experience while learning something outside the curriculum of their specific university.

This collaboration will allow the students of both the universities, JCU and UoW, to undertake and manage various opportunities of student exchange at the other institution.

The memorandum also allows the researchers and faculty at O. P. Jindal Global University and the University of Wollongong to undertake joint teaching and joint research programmes. The primary objective behind this initiative is to start a solid and firm partnership between O. P. Jindal Global University and the University of Wollongong which will provide a well-built platform for engagement between these two universities. This engagement would ultimately impact the growth and learning of both students and the faculty alike while keeping the quality of learning high.

The vice chancellor of UoW, Professor Paul Wellings, welcomed the delegation of JGU to Australia and said that the alliance was a matter of delight for everyone at UoW. He expressed that this was the first step towards a long term friendship that they are establishing with a very fine higher education institution of India. Despite being a young and new university, JGU has founded a strong name for itself and is well known for its outstanding performance in areas of research, community engagement and teaching.

Wellings further said that the partnership was viewed as a strategic development that would help hem in the strengthening the cultural, social and economic links between India and Australia, in the context of higher education.

Professor C. Raj Kumar, VC JGU delivered the addressed speech and talked about the mission and vision of the university. Being the youngest university of India to have made a position in the QS BRICS and QS Asia rankings, the MoU between JGU and UoW reflects the university’s genuine commitment when it comes to nurturing alliances that are beneficial to both the parties mutually. Prof. Kumar expressed his keenness in deepening ties with Australian institutions of higher education.

Formed three years ago by Professor Star, the CIAS is the only centre which focuses on the bilateral relationship of India and Australia. Since the inauguration of the Centre, the CIAS has hosted innumerable Australians in India and continues to be a strong site that builds awareness regarding Australia in India.
