Around 30 parents met on December 18, 2016 to discuss various issues and their bitter experiences during the last admission process. They demanded to streamline the admission process and decided to write Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) describing their clarification on the matter.

In 2016, several students faced lots of confusions due to delayed decisions with regard to the execution of all medical and dental admissions through NEET. Students were completely in confusion due to the difference in the curriculum of NEET and the state-run Common Entrance Test (CET). As a result, the aspirants ended up reserving seats in multiple colleges. They had to go here and there for the counselling sessions in deemed colleges and government colleges.

So as to overcome the problems now parents demand a well-defined counselling and admission rule and regulations. A parent from Mumbai said that they want to know whether 85 percent seats are reserved for students belonging to Maharashtra in private and unaided medical colleges.

The parents also want to know that the number of seats across the state should be made public at the earliest. In addition to this, parents also want to know about new colleges along with the expected increase in the number of seats.

Director of DMER said that till now no parents had come with written complaints regarding this year’s admission process. But he has confirmed that the 85 per cent reservation for Maharashtra domicile in unaided and private colleges and it would be applicable from the next year 2017. He also said that parents' demand the number of seats would be conveyed to Government.
