Pondicherry Govt. Directs Medical Aspirants to Apply for NEET-UG 2017

As of now, students have only three days left to apply for the NEET-UG 2017 examination. The deadline to apply for the examination is March 1, 2017.

The government of Pondicherry had cautioned the medical aspirants to apply for NEET-UG 2017 examination as the last date is approaching. The government clarified that the matter related to exemption of Pondicherry from NEET is under the scrutiny of central government. Therefore, if central government does not respond to the issue, the future of these students will become uncertain. Hence, the government directed the medical aspirants to apply for NEET-UG 2017 examination.

V. Narayanasamy, Chief Minister of Pondicherry explained that he requested the central government to exempt Pondicherry from NEET, as the students of the state are not familiar with the syllabus and pattern of the examination. NEET is CBSE-centric and therefore it is difficult to implement NEET for the current academic session as the students in the state follow the state syllabus at higher secondary level.

He indicated that there has been no response from the central government so far and therefore, it is better if medical aspirants apply for the examination. Earlier, the government assured that it would protect the interests of the students and get Pondicherry an exemption from the sphere of NEET.

He also assured that the government would work out required logistics and modalities to operate the service between Pondicherry and Bangalore by carrying out negotiations with Air India, New Delhi.

As of now, students have only three days to apply for the NEET-UG 2017 examination. The deadline to apply for the examination is March 1, 2017.
