Addressing the week-long Festival of Innovation in New Delhi, President Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday, 5 March 2017 urged the education planners to change the pedagogic approach of learning and make it more practical at the grass root level with innovation.
Education is the main seed of a nation’s destiny. Without a strong education foundation benefits from other infrastructural resources become minimum. Therefore around 86 percent of central institutions of higher learning have opened innovation clubs, the President said.

He further added that there is an urgent need to bring innovative learning in the models of education. The role of science & technology in leveraging inclusive innovations can be seen with the nation's pivotal contributions made by the scientists of Indian Space Research Organisation.
The early investment in science and technology has given the country rich dividends. The country needs to continue providing impetus to science education and research in its institutions. Developing an innovation culture was an imperative need, benefits of which can be converted into a very useful product. He further said that the initiative of the Department of Science and Technology will help in mobilising 10 lakh ideas from 5 lakh ideas at the rate of two ideas for every school.

He added that a strong environment is essential for setting up new enterprises. Micro-venture finance will be of great help in starting entrepreneurial undertakings at the main grassroots levels. Everyone should think of popularising enterprises with an incubation model of innovation.
