Public Libraries Transformed into E-Learning Centers for Students to Prepare for JEE, NEET

With an objective to boost library culture, the government of Jammu and Kashmir launched an E-Learning programme in libraries on February 22, 2016. For this purpose, the government installed computers in state libraries and stated that the students can use these libraries to prepare for various competitive exams like JEE, NEET, CET and others.

The initiative was launched at SPS Library located at Moulana Azad Road. The main objective of the J & K government is to provide comprehensive solutions and quality coaching to various competitive examinations. The students need to fill a form in the nearest public libraries located in their region to avail the E-Learning opportunities.

The students can use various resources like tabs, expert-designed study materials and computers to crack competitive exams. These facilities will benefit the students in preparing for competitive exams without relying on coaching centers.

Through this initiative, the students can access video lectures, written notes and e-books which are available free of cost to the students. All these facilities have been installed in the state libraries across the state.

Dr. Habib Drabu, Finance Minister of Jammu and Kashmir revealed that if the mission is successful, the government would implement various initiatives on a large scale by holding lectures at public community halls etc. He further added that the initiative would be beneficial to the students who live in remote areas and far-flung places where quality coaching institutes are not available.

The state libraries have a collection of study materials and video lectures for engineering, management and medical entrance examinations.
