The government of Rajasthan will be introducing a chapter about crimes against women in the syllabus of class 12th as well as class 10th. This step is being taken by the Rajasthan government in a bid to spread awareness among school children about the incidents of crimes that are done against women.

Ashok Gehlot, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, briefed the Assembly on 16th July 2019, Tuesday, and addressed the poor condition of women in India. He said that women are in grave danger and there have been about 24,000 rape cases that were reported merely in a duration of six months. The government is acknowledging this and hence, introducing the chapters in class 10th and 12th so that the students are aware and understand the seriousness of this issue.

India has consistently been in the top positions among the world’s most unsafe countries for women. The history of violence against women can be traced back to so many years and ages in the past that it becomes a matter of shame for the country and its government that it is failing so terribly at making women feel safe. It has become extremely essential that awareness is spread regarding the condition of women in India so that people understand how grave the situation is and there is no better place than a school to start this endeavour from. Shaping young minds properly is of utmost importance as they are the future of the country. Students must have knowledge about such atrocities that infect the nation and its people.
