SAI & IBAB Bangalore Launch Young Scientist Development Course
The Young Scientist Development Course is a two-week residential programme, and it is being organised at the National Centre for Biological Sciences, Bangalore. The programme will conclude on January 11, 2017.
Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology or IBAB Bangalore and South Asia Institute or SAI of Harvard University has launched a Young Scientist Course. A total number of 25 students have been selected from top institutes across the country for the course. Last week, the students were introduced to neuroscience and its application in the field of engineering. These students were trained by professors from Harvard University and science institutes in India.

It is a two-week residential programme, and it is being organised at the National Centre for Biological Sciences, Bangalore. The programme will conclude on January 11, 2017. The major objective of the programme is to help the to adopt a multidisciplinary approach to education and shape their career beyond pure engineering.
Raghav Singh, R&D, IBM Cognitive Compting indicated that the current world does not need more software engineers for the next few years and the work done by software engineers such as coding will be automated. He addressed the students in a workshop organised as a part of the course. He further added that neuroscience engineering is one of the untapped avenues which engineering students can opt.

With an objective to explore the students on their options, a knowledge exchange platform was organised which helps the students to connect with scientists, industry executives and government representatives. The Youth Science course is also being sponsored byDepartment of Biotechnology as well as Karnataka Biotech and IT Services.
