President of SRM Institute of Science and Technology – AP Amaravati, Dr. P. Satyanarayanan announced the setting up of SLABS (School of Liberal Arts and Basic Sciences) at Amaravati campus of SRM University. SLABS functions from the academic session 2018-19.

SRM-AP SLABS: Admission Process 2020 (Open)

Decisions related to admission at SRM-AP SLABS are reserved by the college. SRM- AP School of Liberal Arts and Basic Sciences Admission for 2020 session is open. Check the following steps to apply:

Step 1: Register

Visit SRM University AP official website and register. Enter the correct name, email ID, contact details and choose the course to register. Candidates who are already registered can login and apply.

Step 2: Fill the Application form online

Add details in the application form. Field marked in * is compulsory. Candidates must ensure to enter the details correctly and submit the application. Apart from this, candidates must also take a scanned copy of documents and photographs which must be uploaded with the application.

Step 3: Pay the application fees

Application fees for SRM- AP SLABS is Rs. 1100. It is non- refundable. No application will be accepted without the payment of application fees.

SRM-AP SLABS Selection Process: -

• To get admission in the SRM AP- School of Liberal Arts and Basic Sciences SLABS, the candidate must undertake a written test. The test is conducted for admission in all the uG courses mentioned above.
• A panel interview is conducted for shortlisted candidates after the written test.
• The final decision is made based on the performance of the candidate.
• Admission is offered to students who meet the eligibility criteria once the results of class 12th are announced.

About SRM-AP SLABS: -

Explaining about SLABS, Dr. Satyanarayanan, President of SRM said that SLABS of SRM Amaravati would help students in developing skills through the basic sciences and liberal arts education. Today, the world is facing complex challenges and issues, and tackling these problems need multidimensional approach. Courses in liberal arts and basic sciences will inculcate the multidimensional approach in students, and develop problem-solving skills. Professor Nicholas Dirks, Chancellor of the University of California will guide SRM Amaravati in setting up SLABS. He stressed that SLABS will have a strong faculty base of international caliber and they will play a vital role in giving a holistic approach to education.

Professor Nicholas Dirks indicated that SLABS will provide excellent quality of education at par with international standards and UG students of SLABS will experience the best. Through the courses offered by SLABS, students get opportunities to develop skills of knowledge creation and critical thinking in different fields including sciences, social sciences and humanities. UG students of SLABS will experience an innovative multidisciplinary education and will be able to evince keen interest in different areas of research including social analysis, public policy, data science and machine learning, he highlighted.

In-class discussions, hands-on assignments, movies, presentations and field trips will be a part of the curriculum of SLABS. These activities will enable the students to be exposed to multiple facets of an issue. The classes will be conducted in an interactive manner and students will be trained in different skills.
