National Secretory of the Students Islamic Organization (SIO), Thouseef Ahamad has filed an affidavit alleging that the union government is communal and has been taking decisions that are not in favour of all the communities.

In his affidavit, Ahamad said that the Health Ministry has deliberately not included Urdu as a language for NEET 2017 as it associated with Islam. He also accused the government departments of prejudice.

The Supreme Court was informed the about the affidavit by the Solicitor General, Ranjit Kumar. He further added that a reply will soon be formulated and sent to SIO regarding the same.

Putting up the information in front of the SC bench comprising Justices Kurian Joseph and R Banumathi, Kumar asked for three days in order to come up with a proper reply.

Advocate Ravindra Garia represented SIO and refuted the argument saying that the student body has not accused the system. He further added that the student organization just wants NEET 2017 to be conducted in Urdu language.

The bench has examined the affidavit filed by Ahamad and has granted the solicitor general the permission to file a response to it.

The court was further informed that in a separate matter relating to NEET, the age cap of 25 years has been removed by another bench.
