Smart India Hackathon and PMRF Scheme Encouraging Students to Pursue Research: Javadekar
Union HRD Ministry, Mr. Prakash Javadekar addressed the gathering at the valedictory of Patna University centenary celebrations. He hoped that India would turn into a prosperous country when it carries out innovation.
Addressing the gathering at the valedictory ceremony of Patna Universitycentenary celebrations, Union HRD Minister, Mr. Prakash Javadekar pointed out that India was lagging in innovation and the government has been trying its best to promote innovation and research in the country. Two popular initiatives of the government, i.e., Smart India Hackathon and Prime Minister Research Fellowship (PMRF) scheme are encouraging students to pursue research, he highlighted.
Union HRD Ministry hoped that India would turn into a prosperous country when it carries out innovation. The sustainable prosperity of any country depends on the innovative ability of the country. The government is doing its best to create laboratories in higher learning institutes across the country, he added.

Javadekar further mentioned that the central government had increased the budget to HRD Ministry by 70%. Therefore, the ministry had launched several schemes to change the orientation of students towards research. Smart India Hackathon has been launched a couple of years ago and has been successful so far. Almost 40,000 students took part in the Hackathon and figured out digital solutions for 600 problems, he revealed.

Javadekar assured Patna University that money would be no bar if the varsity comes up with proposals for overall development. Patna University is the 8th oldest university in India and has contributed in the area of research and education immensely. The government is ready for all sort of support required for the development of Patna University, he highlighted.
