State Assembly of Gujarat Passes Three Bills to Setup Six Universities
Ganpat Vasava, Minister of Tribal Development revealed that Bisra Munda Tribal University would come up in Rajpipla. Explaining about the university, Mr. Ganpat said that the varsity would offer courses in various fields.
The State Assembly of Gujarat has passed a total of six bills on March 22, 2017. Out of these, three bills will pave way for the establishment of four private and two state universities. The government will establish an organic agricultural university in Gandhinagar and a special tribal university in Narmada district.
Ganpat Vasava, Minister of Tribal Development revealed that Bisra Munda Tribal University would come up in Rajpipla. Explaining about the university, Mr. Ganpat said that the varsity would offer all the courses ranging from arts and commerce to conventional science streams. The varsity will also offer vocational courses apart from culture, medicinal plants and tribal arts.

The state government has allocated a sum of Rs. 24 crore for the establishment of Bisra Munda Tribal University and the allocation of land has been completed at Rajpipla. A person from a tribal community with requisite qualification and experience will be appointed as Vice-Chancellor of the varsity.
The main objective of establishing Organic Agricultural University is to regulate the usage of poisonous fertilisers, pesticides and insecticides in agriculture. The varsity will carry out research on various ways of Organic Farming. The varsity will encourage more farmers to practice Organic Farming to keep the soil fertile.

The State Assembly has also given the nod for the establishment of four private universities. The following new private universities will come up in Gujarat: -
- P.P. Savani University will come up at Dhamdod village located in Surat.
- Karnavati University will be established at Uvarsad village located at Gandhi Nagar.
- Indrashil University will be set up at Dholera located in Ahmedabad.
- Swarnim Startup and Innovation University will be established at Bhoyan Rathod in Gandhinagar.
