On the basis of a discussion between the state government and Niti Aagog, they have decided that the state government should get more say in the decisions that will be made by the NMC. Their participation will ensure that the decisions help the state. It will also help take decisions that will be more suitable for the development. This decision was discussed in the meeting which was held earlier in the month of September.

According to the current rules of MCI, one member from each state except the Union Territory is nominated by the Centre in consultation with the state government concerned. One member from each state, in which a State Medical Register is maintained, is to be elected from among themselves by persons enrolled in such a register that possess medical qualifications. NMC will work more towards making decisions which will help the medical field as it will have eminent doctors and experts of medicine as members.
