State Universities of Gujarat have welcomed the idea of accepting CUCET (CUET) 2022 for admissions. UGC Chairman, Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar interacted with the Vice-Chancellors of State Universities of Gujarat on March 30, 2022, and they displayed a willingness to adopt the Central Universities Entrance Test. According to the UGC India, Kumar stated that higher education institutions (HEIs) have the social responsibility to alleviate the stress that students face after clearing the board exams of Class 12th.

The UGC Chairman confirmed that CUET is no more limited to Central Universities admissions. He stated that private varsities and deemed to be universities are also showing interest in accepting the exam scores. Kumar rejected the apprehension that CUCET will make the class 12th board exams irrelevant. He says that universities will still accept the scores obtained in the board exams as qualifying criteria. A few educational institutions may set the qualifying requirement at 60% while others may set it at 70%.

Earlier, the UGC chief established that the application process for CUET 2022 will commence from April 2, 2022, onwards. According to the official announcement of NTA, CUET will offer a single-window opportunity to candidates interested in taking admission in any central university located across the nation. The entrance test will be held in a Computer-based Test (CBT) mode and the questions will be completely based on the syllabus of Class 12th. According to the UGC Chairman, no questions from class 11th will crop up in the entrance test.
Jamia Milia Islamia along with Delhi University have become a few of the multiple universities that have decided to accept the CUET 2022 scores for UG admissions. Since CUET 2022 will be held in 13 different languages, candidates hailing from different regional backgrounds will be treated on a par. Kumar revealed that CUET will be held once this year but the National Testing Agency (NTA) will think about conducting CUET at least twice from the next sessions.
