Student of Vijayawada Gets US Patent for Research on Brain-Computer Interface

An ECE student from Vijayawada bagged a US Patent for his research on Brain-Computer Interface. The speciality of this project is that it gathers information about dreams that humans experience.

M. Rajashekar, a student from SRKR Engineering College, Bhimavaram left everyone surprised with his research on the Brain Compter Interface (BCI) that records the dreams of humans while they are in sleep. For this purpose, Rajashekar developed a wireless sensor which gives commands to the computer to record the brain activities while sleeping. He bagged the US Patent for his research. He spent around Rs. 15 lakh for his research funded by Hewlett-Packard Company.

Rajashekar also designed a Remote Patient Monitoring System (RMPS) which is used to perform differently clinical treatments. The system works on a mobile, and through this system, a patient has to put the mobile on his body and needs to connect it with doctor's mobile number and ultimately the doctor could get the results for about 90 health problems. The RMPS system will help the doctors get instant results of the patient's clinical examination.

Rajashekar explained that he had linked up the RMPS kit directly to the satellite and it sends the information to the destination through orbit space internet device.

He also conducted research on translating various languages through eye glasses. For this purpose, he inserted a mini computer with the help of a chip between the eyeglasses and eye. The device is loaded with commands in 90 languages. Recently, TCS has selected one of the projects of Rajashekar as the best project and awarded him a cash prize of Rs. 20,000.
