Super 30 to Increase Intake up to 60; Students to be selected after Class 10

Founder of the most successful social coaching initiative in India – Super 30 – Anand Kumar informed that he will be increasing the intake of students from 30 to 60. In a discussion held on June 19, 2017, he informed that 60 poor and meritorious students will be selected and will be provided with preparation assistance to enter Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

Kumar also added that two separate batches will be formed. One of these batches will comprise students who have cleared class 10 exams, whereas, the other batch will comprise students who will be appearing for class 12 exams in 2018.

The Founder also added that the reach will be expanded from poor students to students belonging to lower middle-class backgrounds. He also added that the brand name will remain ‘Super 30’. Test will be organised for Class 10 pass-outs as well as Class 12 students for selection to the Super 30 programme.

The test will be conducted in Lucknow on June 24 at the Rani Laxmibai Memorial Senior Secondary School. Aspiring students will be able to apply for the test from June 20. Students will have to answer 10 questions from physics, mathematics as well as chemistry within one hour.

Apart from Lucknow, the test will be conducted in Kanpur and Varanasi. Super 30 will also be open for states other states including Odisha and Jharkhand.

Kumar said that 396 out of the 450 poor students he taught in the past 15 years were selected into different IITs. He also added that he wants to help more poor students as there is no lack of talent in poor families.

On being asked how he will manage the expenditure of 30 additional students, Kumar said that he will be organising online mathematics tutorials at a nominal price. He added that even if one lakh students enrol for this programme, he will have enough funds to accommodate the additional students.

Students who are shortlisted for Super 30 get training for JEE Main and JEE Advanced along with lodging and food facilities. They start their day at 6:30 am and their classes are conducted from 7:30 am to 12 pm. The students are offered lunch and then they get back to self-studies up to 1 am at night. Between this time slot, they are offered tea and dinner as well.

He said after selection, most of them stayed in touch and even came back to conduct sessions and motivate others before the final exams. Many stayed for days together to help the students with their studies.
