The honourable Supreme Court on 22nd September’ 16 announced that the counselling done by the private medical colleges on their own is deplorable. This decision was taken by the Supreme Court because the Madhya Pradesh government filed a plea against the private colleges. The plea was filed by the state government because the private medical colleges were not admitting students on the basis of the centralised medical counselling process.

The decision was announced by the constitution bench consisting five judges. Following are the names of the judges who were part of the bench which was headed by Justice A R Dave:

  • Justice R K Agrawal
  • Justice Adarsh K Goel
  • Justice R Banumathi
  • Justice A R Dave

Justice A R Dave said to the reporters that the government was right in conducting centralised counselling for NEET students. He also said that he has requested the government to complete the process within one week for both private and government medical colleges. The bench has also asked the government to monitor that the process of counselling takes place smoothly and the admission process is finished as soon as possible.
