Teachers Recruitment 2023: The Deputy Education Minister has projected recruitment of more than 20,000 new teachers in the next 5 years i.e, from 2023 to 2027. Recruitment is expected to increase from 16,886 to 20,081 in secondary and primary schools. During the QNA session In the Dewan Rakyat, The education ministry told Saifuddin Abdullah (PN-Indera Mahkota) to monitor changes in recruitment from time to time along with that formulate strategies to hire trained staff for the students.
Lim Stated that the Education Ministry from 2021 to 2023 through the subject cluster (KMP) method recruited 22,327 teachers as a measure of strategy to avoid the shortage of teachers. The recruitment of teachers was made in 148 areas of specialization. Furthermore, the recruitment of teachers should focus on specializations such as Mathematics, English, Bahasa Melayu, history, and Islamic education.
Lim further added "We will continue and also add a few more steps. We are indeed reviewing and making recommendations and we will announce them when we have a decision." Apart from this, the dilapidated condition of schools was asked by Sh Mohmed Puzi Sh Ali (BN-Pekan), to which Lim stated that the priority of the ministry was to upgrade the buildings. She also stated that about 80% of the dilapidated schools are situated in Sabah and Sarawak.
