Telangana: Education Department Likely to Scrap DEECET 2016
A total number of 1,50,000 candidates qualified TET and the government is not in a position to generate employment opportunities.
The Education Department of Telangana is planning to scrap DEECET/DIETCET 2016 examination. It is conducted for the admission to D.Ed courses at various colleges across Telangana. The main reason to scrap the entrance test is inadequate employment opportunities.
One of the officials of the Education Department said that every year around 40,000 students is completing B.Ed and D.Ed courses. It is expected that only 21,000 posts will be vacant in the next 15 years. The candidates who have completed B.Ed and D.Ed have qualified Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). A total number of 1,50,000 candidates qualified TET and the government is not in a position to generate employment opportunities.

At this juncture, releasing DEECET 2016 notification is of no use. The officials mentioned the notification would not be issued as there aren’t enough employment opportunities. However, the government has to take the final decision on the same.

There are 273 D.Ed colleges in the state which offer 13,500 seats. Out of them, 1,000 seats belong to government colleges. On the other hand, most of the managements of private colleges are filling up the seats under management quota for the new academic session. The classes for the candidates who qualified DEECET 2016 commenced in the month of May. So, it is not possible to conduct classes for the first year students unless the academic year completes for the students who were admitted in 2015.
