Telangana Govt. to Set Up Two New Medical Colleges
- Telangana CM approved the proposal of setting up two new medical colleges in Nalgonda and Suryapet districts of Telangana.
- The construction of these new colleges will be completed within two years.
The state government of Telangana has approved the proposal to set uptwo new medical collegesin the state. On May 22, 2018, Chief Minister of Telangana, Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao approved the plan by signing the proposal from Medical and Health Department, Telangana. The decision taken by the state government of Telangana will help meritorious medical aspirants to pursue medical education in the state.
The new medical colleges approved by the state government will come up inSuryapetandNalgondadistricts of Telangana. According to sources, each of these colleges will offer150 seatsinMBBScourse. Along with the construction of two new medical colleges, the state government will also upgrade the facilities at the existing government hospitals in Nalgonda and Suryapet districts.

The construction of two new medical colleges will take at least two years. The state government has assigned the responsibility of getting MCI approval for new medical colleges toKaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences.After the MCI approval, the authorities will initiate the budgetary allocation of these colleges.
The state government of Telangana will sanction Rs. 500 crore to each college for the establishment of new buildings. Out of the total budget, Rs. 450 crore will be spent on capital expenditure and the rest of the amount will be utilized to gather the workforce. Thecollege infrastructurewill meet the norms prescribed byMCI.

The approval of new medical colleges is a tremendous boost to the medical education in Telangana. At present, there are onlyfour medical collegesin the state. Establishment of new colleges will give an opportunity to more aspirants pursue medical education in the state.
