Telangana: Private Degree Colleges End Strike
The government assured that it would release Rs. 300 crore dues immediately and release the second installment of Rs. 300 crore by the end of October.
The degree colleges across the state have withdrawn their three-day strike on October 17, 2016. The government has assured that it would release dues under fee reimbursement scheme.
The private college managements went on strike on October 14, 2016, demanding the government to release Rs. 680 crore dues to them under fee reimbursement scheme. The colleges boycotted the supplementary exams for degree students and threatened the government that they would not conduct the first semester examinations which are scheduled to commence in the month of November.

Finally, the government took the initiative and held talks with college managements on October 15 & 16, 2016. The government assured that it would release Rs. 300 crore dues immediately and release the second installment of Rs. 300 crore by the end of October. The rest of the dues will be cleared by the end of this year.

Ramana Reddy, President of Telangana Private Degree Colleges Managements Association, said that the government has accepted their demands and the strike has been called off immediately. The supplementary exams for degree students will commence from October 24, 2016.
