TG Inter Exams 2026: Over 16,000 students skip on Day 1; Grace time provided for latecomers
Telangana Inter Exams 2026 began smoothly with over 16,000 students absent on Day 1, despite high overall attendance. Authorities provided a 5-minute grace period for latecomers to reduce exam-day stress for students.
TG Inter Exams 2026:The Telangana Intermediate Public Examinations (IPE) 2026 started on Wednesday in a tight administrative setup. As per official statistics, nearly 16,000 students were absent on the very first day of the exams. However, the overall situation at 1,495 examination centres remained calm and peaceful, with no major incidents reported from any district.
For the Second Language Paper-I, a total of 5,14,598 students were registered, out of which 4,98,695 candidates appeared for the exam, and 15,903 students were declared absent. The first day of exams includes language subjects such as Telugu, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu, and Arabic. Education officials said that the attendance of students remained the same as in previous years and did not impact the smooth conduct of the exam process.
Grace Time for Late Arrivals
To minimise stress among students due to traffic or transport delays, the board introduced a five-minute grace period for entry into examination centres. Students were allowed to enter examination centres until 9:05 am, although the examination officially started at 9 am. However, a few students arrived at their centres beyond the allowed limit and were thus denied entry. Isolated cases were reported from Jagtial and Nizamabad district headquarters, where students who arrived 7 to 10 minutes late were not allowed to take the examination, as per the rules of the Board.
To avoid any delay in the distribution of question papers, the Board directed the officials to collect question papers earlier than usual. While the normal time for collection is 8:30 am, officials in Hyderabad and a few other places were directed to collect question papers at 8:25 am, taking into consideration traffic congestion. The officials confirmed that this measure helped ensure the smooth start of the examination.
Smooth Conduct Across Telangana
The Intermediate exams have begun in an organised manner, with question papers being distributed on time and special observers being placed to monitor the exam centres. Observers and flying squads have been placed in various districts to prevent cheating and ensure that the exams are conducted in a fair manner.
TG BIE Secretary S. Krishna Aditya visited various exam centres in Hyderabad to personally check the arrangements. He interacted with the staff, checked the facilities, and examined if the guidelines were being followed properly. Observers placed in various districts like Medchal, Rangareddy, Warangal, Karimnagar, Khammam, Nalgonda, and Yadadri, among others, reported that the exams were conducted smoothly and peacefully with no untoward incidents.
