In a move to streamline the appointment process of teachers in different universities across the country and offer them better opportunities, a panel of UGC has suggested to to scrap the ad-hoc and temporary appointments of teachers in all universities in India.

Commission's Pay Review committee also suggested that pay of teachers should be as per with the seventh pay commission. If the recommendations are accepted by Ministry of Human Resource Development , the salary of teachers would be hiked marginally. The committee was headed by UGC member VS Chauhan. The recommendations come at a time when the universities are to appoint around 6000 teachers.
