University of Queensland and IIT Delhi Collaborate for Ph.D. Programme
IIT Delhi and the University of Queensland in Australia have signed a MoU to collectively offer Ph.D. programmes. The initiative aims to help about 360 students graduate in the next 10 years under the UQIDAR project. Read more below.
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and the University of Queensland (UQ) Australia will soon be coming together to introduce a joint Ph.D. programme which will include student exchange programs, funding and research work involving both the universities.
In the initial year, both the universities will aim at enrolling 50 candidates for the Ph.D. course who will also be involved in developing the course. IIT Delhi Director, V Ramgopal Rao said that such initiatives will also help other universities to collaborate with foreign universities. This will, in turn, give a boost to improving the standards of education in the country.

The Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Queensland, Mr. Peter Hoj and IIT Delhi Director, V. Rao signed the agreement of the collaboration on Saturday, 22nd September 2018. As a part of the initiative and MoU, an academy of research namely UQIDAR will be established to aid students and academicians to partner on different projects that focus on issues affecting Australia, India and other global communities. The partnership will also help bridge the gap with respect to education deficit in India, highlighted Mr. Peter Varghese, Chancellor of the University of Queensland.

UQIDAR will act as a platform for the students who wish to gain a global qualification from both IIT Delhi and the University of Queensland. The academy will be open to students from all the disciplines. The collaboration aims at graduate approximately 360 students in the next 10 years.
