    Indian Institute of Technology Delhi Overview

    IIT Delhi is inviting applications for its “Free Online Course” on Artificial Intelligence and the last date to apply for the same is January 30, 2023. The programme is newly launched and will be offered for a duration of 12 weeks. The IIT Delhi free course on Artificial Intelligence is known as “An Introduction to Artificial Intelligence” and will impart training in various subfields of AI. The course would enable students to apply for further advanced courses in various targeted domains of AI. While the course is free of cost, to attain a Certificate of Completion, students will have to pay a registration fee of Rs 1,000 as well as clear a test. The course is one of the most popular among the IIT Delhi free online courses with certificate. It will be delivered by Professor Mausam who is an affiliate professor at the University of Washington and an associate professor at IIT Delhi. The various dates for the course are mentioned below:

    IIT Delhi QS Ranking 2023 is 46 with an overall score of 64.9. IIT Delhi JoSAA seat allocation result 2022 for round 6 was released on October 16, 2022, while JoSAA 2022 cut off was also announced on the same day on the official website of JoSAA. JoSAA round 3 IIT cutoff 2022 was released on October 03, 2022, on the official web portal of JoSAA. JoSAA seat allocation result 2022 round 3 was also released on October 03, 2022. IIT Delhi JoSAA round 2 cutoff 2022 was released on September 29, 2022, and JoSAA seat allocation result 2022 round 2 was released on September 28, 2022, on the official web portal of JoSAA. Joint Seat Allotment Authority (JoSAA) released the seat allotment result and cutoff 2022 ranks for round 1 on its official website josaa.nic.in, on September 23, 2022.

    IIT Delhi GATE 2023 registration process's last date is October 07, 2022. The late fee extension date for GATE 2023 registration was October 14, 2022. GATE 2023 exam dates are available on the official website. The registration process for the GATE 2023 exam started on August 30, 2022. GATE 2023 admit cards will be available on January 03, 2023. The GATE 2023 exam for IIT Delhi admission will be held on February 4-13, 2023, on different dates. GATE 2023 results will be released on March 16, 2023.

    Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, is among the Twenty-Three Indian Institute of Technology institutions to be Centres of Excellence for training, research and development in science, engineering and technology in India.

    The establishment had been done as a College of Engineering in 1961; however, the Institute was later declared as an Institution of National Importance under the “Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 1963” and was then renamed “Indian Institute of Technology Delhi”. It was then awarded the status of a Deemed University with powers to decide its academic policy, conduct its examinations, and award its degrees.

    Since its establishment in 1961, over 48000 have graduated from IIT Delhi in various disciplines, including Engineering, Physical Sciences, Management and Humanities & Social Sciences.     • Master of Technology and Master of Design (Receiving Institute / Project Assistantship or Teaching position holders) - Rs 10,000 per semester.
    • Master of Technology and Master of Design (Sponsored, FT / PT & Non-teaching position holders) - Rs 50,000 per semester.

    • Full-Time Ph.D - Rs 5,000 per semester

    The entire amount of fees and other charges deposited by the students will be refundable after a deduction of Rs 1,000/ if the students do not wish to join the programme after paying the dues and leave the Institute by applying for a refund on or before the date of registration. No refund of fees will be permissible to students who have registered for the programme but leave immediately thereafter.  In such cases, only caution money will be refunded.

    Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi Eligibility Criteria for 2022

    Full-Time Master of Science:

    • The candidate must have at least 55% aggregate marks or 5.5 CGPA/CPI out of 10 without rounding-off (taking into account all subjects including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for General or OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) or EWS category candidates (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) in the qualifying degree.
    • If the candidates have letter grades/CGPA on other scales, the equivalence will be decided by the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
    • For a Master of Science in Chemistry, the candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree with Chemistry as a subject for three years or six semesters and Mathematics at (10+2) level.
    • For Master of Science in Mathematics the candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree with Mathematics as a subject for at least two years or four semesters.
    • For Master of Science in Physics the candidate must have Bachelor’s degree with Physics as a subject for two years or four semesters and Mathematics for at least one year or two semesters.
    • For Master of Science in Cognitive Science the candidate must have any of the following Qualifying Degrees: B.A./B.Sc./B.Com./B.M.S./B.Tech./B.E./B.Stat./B.Math. or equivalent.
    • For Master of Science in Economics, the candidate must have any of the following Qualifying Degrees: B.A./B.Sc./B.Com./B.Tech./B.E./B.Stat./B.Math. or equivalent.

    • The candidates are selected based on GATE.
    • The student should have a minimum of B.E./B.Tech./ M.Sc. or equivalent with CGPA 6.00 on a 10-point scale or 60% marks in aggregate for General/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/EWS Category with valid GATE score.
    • The candidate is also eligible if they have a B.Tech. degree from IITs with CGPA of 8.00 without GATE. AMIE /Grad. IETE are also eligible.

    Part-Time Master of Technology:

    • The selection criteria for the same are a written test and an Interview.
    • The candidates who have a B.E./B.Tech./ M.Sc. or equivalent in relevant field with a CGPA 6.00 on a 10-point scale or60% marks in aggregate for General/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/EWS Category and minimum experience prescribed.
    • The candidate must submit a No Objection Certificate from their employer and their Organisation should be located within 50km of IIT Delhi.

    Sponsored Master of Technology:

    • The selection criteria for the same are a written test and an Interview.
    • The candidates who have a B.E./ B.Tech./ M.Sc. or equivalent in the relevant field with a CGPA 6.00 on a 10-point scale or 60% marks in aggregate for General/ OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/ EWS Category and minimum experience prescribed.
    • The candidate must submit a No Objection Certificate from their employer and their Organisation should be located within 50km of IIT Delhi.

    Master of Design:

    • The selection criteria for admission is decided from the CEED examination.
    • The applicant should have a minimum of B.E./B.Tech./ B.Des./ B.Arch. or equivalent in relevant field with CGPA 6.00 on 10 point scale or60% marks in aggregate and a valid CEED score.

    Full-Time Master of Business Administration:

    • The Selection Criteria for the same is CAT Exam.

    Full-Time (Telecommunication Systems Management) MBA:

    Ph.D:

    • The candidates are selected based on a written test and interview.
    • A minimum of Master degree in Engineering/Technology or master's degree in Science /Humanities or equivalent in relevant discipline with CGPA 6.00 on 10-point scale or 60% marks in aggregate for General/OBC/ EWS category. 
    •  Full-time students who do not possess M.Tech. or equivalent degree are required to have a valid GATE/CEED* Score or UGC/CSIR /DBT /ICMR /INSPIRE fellowship examination for Sciences/Humanities and Social Sciences disciplines or B.Tech. or equivalent with CGPA of 7.0 on a 10-point scale or 70%aggregate marks and qualified GATE or UGC/CSIR /DBT /ICMR /INSPIRE fellowship examination for Biomedical Engg., candidates having M.B.B.S. with 60% marks or more are eligible provided they have qualified ICMR. 
    • The Candidates having Postgraduate degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD)/ Master in Surgery(MS) with 60% marks or more after MBBS will also be eligible for admission to Ph.D. Programme in CBME.
    • For the currently registered students in Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) having CGPA of 8.0 or above (on a 10-point scale) at the end of 6th semester or later, in B.Tech./B.E./Integrated M.Tech./Integrated M.Sc. programmes (or any other programme of minimum four years duration, admission to which is based on JEE), the requirement of GATE /National Examination has waived for consideration of admission the Ph.D. programme in IIT Delhi. 
    • Moreover, such students must have obtained CGPA of 8.0 or above at the time of graduation (and before they formally register for the Ph.D. programme).
    • The GATE /National Examination requirement is waived for consideration for admission to the Ph.D. programme for all graduates of CFTIs with a B.Tech./ B.E./Integrated M.Sc. (or any other programme of minimum four years duration, admission to which is based on JEE) with CGPA of 8.0 or above at the time of graduation.
    • The Requirement of GATE /National Examination is also waived for MA or M.Sc. graduated from IITs with CGPA 8.0 or above.

    Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi Application Process 2022

    • Applications are invited from candidates by advertising the programmes in March/ October every year. 
    • Subsequently, the candidates have to apply online as specified in the advertisements. Admission is done through the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) for M.Tech. programmes, Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) for M.Des., Common Admission Test (CAT) for M.B.A. and, Joint Admission Test (JAM) for M.Sc. programmes. Admission to Ph.D./ M.S.     An active and dynamic programme of securing jobs for students graduating from the Institute is initiated by the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi by inviting industries of repute and other organisations to conduct interviews. Wide publicity of the academic and extra-curricular activities of students is given to the organisations. Organisations that have hitherto not participated in the Training or Placement of the students are contacted actively.

    Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi Scholarship

    Scholarship for Under Graduate Programmes:

    • Institute Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarships:

    The Institute offers Merit-cum-Means scholarships to undergraduate students in engineering and technology. These scholarships are offered to about 25% of the students. The current value of Merit-cum-Means scholarship is Rs 1000/- per month for General/OBC/EWS students and the recipient is exempted from paying the tuition fees.     

    • Institute Merit Prizes and Certificates:

    The Institute offers Merit prizes and Certificates to the top 7% of the students of each 4-year B.Tech., and 5-year Dual Degree programme each semester up to the 8th / 10th Semester. The value of the merit prize is Rs 2500/-.        

    • Institute Free Studentship:

    The Institute offers free studentship to 10% of the students based on means alone.

    • Scholarship for SC, ST & PD students:

    Tuition fee exemption is admissible to all SC / ST/PD students irrespective of their parents’/ guardians’ income, Institute offers several other benefits to students from these categories.       

    • Donor Scholarships:

    There are several other scholarships in operation at the Institute. These scholarships have been established by grants from individuals, trusts and organizations.        

    Scholarships for Post-Graduate Programmes:

    • Master of Science Programmes:

    Merit-cum-Means scholarship of Rs 1,000/- per month and tuition fee waiver are permissible to Master of Science students to the extent of 25% of the sanctioned strength as per Institute rules. Only those students are eligible whose parents’ gross income is up to Rs 4.5 lac per annum for all categories of students/ as per govt. orders as applicable.

    • Master of Technology, Master of Science (Research) and Master of Design Students:

    The Institute doesn’t award any scholarship to the students of M.Tech., M.S. (Research), and Master of Design programmes. However, a scheme for financial assistance is in operation. Apart from the teaching/research assistantships, there are several fellowships and scholarships Instituted by industries and individuals for such students.      

    • Ph.D. Students:

    Although the Institute does not award any scholarship, a scheme for the award of Teaching / Research Assistantship for providing financial assistance to the students exists. Under this scheme, those students, who are admitted on a full-time basis, are offered Teaching/Research Assistantship, provided they are not getting any other equivalent fellowship.

    The ambience of student life and activities on the campus is to provide an invigorating and creative environment which promotes independent thinking and introspection and leads the young students to become more aware of the consequence of their actions. Excellent facilities for accommodation to a large number of students, co-curricular activities, sports and games recreation, shopping, etc., are provided to the students on campus. 

    Special efforts are also made to promote and strengthen student-teacher interaction. Students Counselling Service has been set up to assist and morally support students in their initial adjustment, and also to deal with any difficulties, they may have during their stay at the Institute.

    • There are eleven boys’ hostels and two girls’ hostels at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. The boys’ hostels are Nilgiri, Karakoram, Aravali, Jwalamukhi, Satpura, Zanskar, Kumaon, Vindyachal, and Shivalik, Girnar and Udaigiri. Kailash and Himadri Hostels are for girls. Every Hostel is a self-contained facility with amenities such as a reading room, an indoor games room, a lounge and a dining hall with the mess, a computer room and a TV in the common room. All of the rooms have been provided with Internet and Wi-Fi facilities.     
    • The campus of Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi also offers amenities like Staff Clubs, hospitals, Shopping centres, Banks, Post offices, Telecom Centre, Community Centre, Stadium, Playing Fields, etc. The Students Activities Centre provides many facilities for the students’ extra-curricular activities and physical development.        
    • The central double-storied recreation block of Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi comes with a swimming pool and a gymnasium hall that offers amenities such as squash courts, hobbies workshops/seminar rooms, music rooms and other multipurpose rooms for reading and indoor games. The amphitheatre with a large capacity constructed in modern style also is in centre block.

    The Co-curricular and Academic Interaction Council (CAIC) of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi has the aim to achieve maximal interaction between students and faculty, a good academic atmosphere and an efficient decision-making process based on consultation. Through these, it aims to promote the overall development of students for the maximum realization of their potential. 

    The council is a joint committee of undergraduate students, postgraduate students and faculty that provides feedback to the Board of Academic Programmes on all academic and allied matters. CAIC has the following constituent clubs:

    • Robotics Club:

    The Robotics Club of Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi strives to stimulate interest in robotics among the students of the institute. Besides making a serious endeavour to spread knowledge on Robotics and its diverse applications, it also stands by the subtle acronym of TEAM - 'Together Everyone Achieves More'. 

    • Axlr8r Club:

    Axlr8r Formula Racing is a group of undergraduate students from different departments of Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi who design and fabricate open-wheel electric formula race cars. So far, the club has designed 3 electric vehicles and 5 combustion vehicles. It aims to promote e-mobility in India and strive to revolutionize the future of electric mobility in India.       

    • Aeromodelling Club:

    The Aeromodelling Club of Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi is a group of aeromodelling and aviation enthusiasts with an innate desire for flying. Aeromodelling is a work of art where engineering and creativity synergize in developing sophisticated flying systems.        

    • Physics and Astronomy Club:

    This Club of Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi is a group of Physics and Astronomy enthusiasts who organise lecture sessions, discussions and observation sessions and competitive events throughout the year.

    • Devclub:

    DevClub strives to spread applied computer science culture among the students of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. The club combines the likes of coding, web development, android app development and much more to come up with new and innovative, out-of-the-box solutions.

    • Economics Club:

    The vision of the Economics club is to promote knowledge of economics & financial education, training & imparting practical skills and introduce people to economics, in a way that gets them interested to pursue the area further at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.

    • iGem Club:

    The International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) club organised by the students of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi aims to solve real-world challenges by building genetically engineered biological systems to advance research in synthetic biology.

    • Literary Club:

    The Literary Club aims to promote the growth of knowledge and encourage the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi family to read together, for reading is knowledge and knowledge is power. The present team aims to take the Reading Circle to newer heights and organise events for people to bond over.

    • Hindi Samiti:

    The importance of local languages is diminishing in urban areas. To nurture this culture, Hindi Samiti at IIT, Delhi brings to you the different verticals, where participants can contribute, like Hindi Debates, Hindi Quizzes, Poetry and Stand-up Comedy and much more.

    • SPIC MACAY:

    Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth or SPIC MACAY is founded to introduce Indian culture and its beautiful art forms to the students. VIRASAT- the annual fest of SPIC MACAY sprawls over 3 weeks and compromises of performances and workshops in arts and crafts, theatre, films and yoga.

    • Career Fest ‘PRAVRITTI 2022- Reshaping Chances:

    The Office of Career Services (OCS), IIT Delhi organised a two-day annual career fest ‘PRAVRITTI 2022’ on 18th and 19th of April with the theme “Reshaping Chances choices”. Most of the non-hiring events under PRAVRITTI were open to non-IIT Delhi students also in a virtual mode. The fest aimed to train students, assist them to connect with organizations and industry and enable them to gain a perspective on various career avenues so that they can make informed career decisions.

    • Student Festivals Tryst, Rendezvous and Kaizen:

    After a gap of two years, various student-led festivals were once again organised at IIT Delhi in physical mode. The annual science and technology festival ‘Tryst’ was organised from April 15th to 17th, 2022. In association with various technical clubs and societies at IIT Delhi, Tryst presented a rich variety of events like Drone Racing League, Robotics Competition, Coding Hackathons etc. The Institute’s social fest ‘Kaizen’ organised by NSS IIT Delhi was held from April 18th - 20th.

    • IIT Delhi has featured among the top 100 educational institutes in the world for five of its academic programmes under the Engineering and Technology category, as per the 12th QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022. The Institute’s Electrical Engineering programme achieved 56th rank (overall score of 77.5), Mechanical Engineering 64th (overall score of 76.6), Computer Science 65th (overall score 71.0), Chemical Engineering 92nd (overall score of 74.5) and Civil Engineering was ranked in the 51-100 bracket (overall score of 74.0).
    • A world-class indoor sports complex spread over 2000 square meters was inaugurated at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. The indoor sports facility named ‘Mittal Sports Complex’ has been built with the generous support of 1995 batch Institute alumnus Mr. Saurabh Mittal (B. Tech., Electrical Engineering). The indoor sports complex, which has the number of sports facilities like badminton, squash courts and table tennis halls, was inaugurated by Saurabh Mittal and his parents Dr. S K Mittal and Mrs. Kusum Mittal in the presence of senior functionaries and students of Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
    • Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi has entered into an MoU with Delhi Jal Board (DJB), Govt. of NCT of Delhi, under which they will collaborate to address water security-related issues being faced by Delhi. Under the MoU, IIT Delhi and DJB will collaborate on identified Research & Development initiatives in the areas of Water Supply and Distribution; Wastewater Conveyance, Treatment, recycling/Reuse and Disposal. Both sides will work towards the development of policy and best practice initiatives for wastewater treatment and its reuse/recycling to achieve the goal of zero waste discharge into drains and River Yamuna.
    • Researchers from IIT, Delhi's Department of Energy Science and Engineering(DESE), Indian Oil Corporation (IOC R&D), and Ashok Leyland Ltd. have developed technology, which enables a diesel-powered automotive vehicle to run in flex-fuel mode i.e., either 100% diesel or Dimethyl Ether (DME) plus Diesel mode. The project was funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. Using this technology, the researchers converted a diesel-powered automotive vehicle into a flex-fuel vehicle on a pilot basis. This flex-fuel technology-based vehicle DOST was jointly flagged off on 8th April 2022 at IIT Delhi. Dimethyl Ether (DME) is one of the alternative fuels to compression ignition engines/vehicles as it has a higher cetane number (~58) than that of conventional diesel (51).

    The admission process of LPU is simple and online in 2020 . Since you haven't mentioned your preferred program, I wont be able to tell you much about the eligibility as LPU curates over 200 programs! But please be noted that the admissions are in the last phase now and will end soon. You have to fulfill the eligibility criteria and admission criteria to take admission at LPU. Generally LPU admission process takes place in 3 ways as far as I know online,offline in outcamus/carvan offices of LPU as well as, incampus which is headoffice of LPU and situated within LPU campus(Punjab). This time I heard that for 2020 admission session during the current lockdown period due to COVID-19 pandemic, to support candidates, LPU has initiated a fully online application to admission process. One need to visit LPU admit portal link-admission.lpu.in or call on LPU toll free number mention on LPU official website www.lpu.in for all the detailed information and to know about step by step admission process. (General admission process one need to follow by registering on LPU website or on LPU admit portal or by simply talking to LPU counsellors for guidance to complete there admisison procedure.)
