Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has started with its Detail Application Form DAF for the candidates who have cleared the preliminary exam. Candidates can fill the DAF form latest by August 6, 2018 (6pm) on the official website of the UPSC.

The UPSC main examination will be conducted on September 28, 2018. While filling the DAF form, candidates have to mention their credentials such as academic qualification, details of employment, professional experience, family income among others.

Detail Application Form is one of the most important steps for candidates who have cleared the UPSC prelims. While filling the form candidates have to be very careful about the cadre and choice of services. The DAF form also consists of a section where the candidate is required to mention about their hobbies and extracurricular activities.

DAF Form Registration 2018:

  • Candidates who cleared the prelims have to register themselves to fill the online DAF form at the official website of UPSC.
  • Candidates have to create their registered accounts and fill in all the details such as name, roll number, date of birth and email address. All the fields are compulsory.
  • Once the candidates have filled in the form, they have to submit the same and a confirmation email regarding their registration along with the password will be sent.
  • TheOnline DAF form is divided into six modules which include Personal, Educational Information, Parental Information, Employment Information, Upload documents and Final Submission.

Important Instructions UPSC DAF Form 2018:

  • The DAF is 8 pages long and the form has to be filled online.
  • Applicants can submit the fees through online mode and can also pay through cash mode. The ones who are filling the fees in the cash mode should print the system generated pay-in-slip and deposit the fee at an SBI branch.
  • Applicants should scan all original documents in 200 dpi grayscale or convert all the documents into a single PDF file up to 2 MB size before filling the DAF form. Also, the PDF file should not be password protected and the same should be uploaded during the online submission of DAF.
  • The most important column in the DAF form is the choice of services and cadres. Candidates are advised to fill the column after consulting an experienced person who has knowledge about this field.
  • Candidates must use the same photograph which they have used while filling the prelims form and the email id should have their official name as an email address which looks professional is always better.
  • Once the candidates have fill-in all the details, they should go through all the certificates that they have attached to the form and cross-check all the information to avoid any mistakes.

Common Mistakes while filling UPSC DAF Form 2018:

  • Candidates should all the necessary documents and certificates mentioned by the UPSC along with the DAF. All the certificates should be self-attested or by a gazetted officer with the date.
  • The DAF form should be an original one and not a print preview PDF copy.

The DAF form should not have any errors as it may lead to rejection of the form or cancellation of selection of the candidates. However, women and SC/ST candidates are exempted from the fee.
