Washington University to Mentor IIT Delhi Students
- Washington University has signed up with IIT Delhi for mentorship programme.
- The selected students of IIT Delhi under the mentorship programme of Washington University will lead path-breaking research projects and prepare for the broader world.
Washington University and Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi have signed a pact under which selected students from the premier engineering institute will be mentored by Washington University with an objective to further develop their skills. Through this agreement, IIT Delhi will enter into a collaboration with Washington University’s McDonnell International Scholars Academy. The students of IIT Delhi will be mentored as future leaders and this will be achieved by enabling and motivating them to incubate new ideas. The selected students of IIT Delhi under the mentorship programme of Washington University will lead path-breaking research projects and prepare for the broader world.

Director of IIT Delhi, Mr. Ramgopal Rao pointed that IIT Delhi was more Indian-oriented, with Indian faculty and Indian students, solving Indian problems. The institute has bagged an opportunity to work on global problems through the significant collaboration with Washington University.
Chancellor of Washington University, Mark S Wrighton indicated that there are some many global challenges which need to be addressed. No single institution or a country could solve or address these challenges. Therefore, it is vital to collaborate with other institutes across the world to solve global problems.

On December 15, 2017, IIT Delhi and Washington University organised its first ‘Forum of India’, a platform to address the way energy choices affect environment, agriculture and health, particularly in relation to climate change.
Indian institutes must focus more on collaborating with international institutes to boost research activities, promote student-faculty exchange programmes and offer a varied range of courses, inviting international faculty and others.
