The Starting of the Bapatla College Of Arts & Sciences in 1963 Was in fulfillment of the long cherished desire of the people of Bapatla area to have a centre of higher Education, Sponsored by the Bapatla Education Society, it has had a humble beginning with 181 students on rolls in PUC. Affiliation for B.A. Class was given in 1964 and for B.Sc. and B.Com. Classes in the year following. The total strength of Students now stands around 2,300, a goodly percentage of them being girls. The college has been, over the years, known for its tireless striving towards academic excellence and cordial relations among all concerned. The blessings and good wishes Dr.A.L.Narayana,the then Vice-Chancellor and Honourable Minister of that time, Sri Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy, Sri Kasu Brahmananda Reddy and Sri Alapati Venkatramaih helped to establish the College as planned, not withstanding the heavy odds the Society had to contend with. Thanks to the strenuous efforts of the College Committee and the liberal UGC Grants, a nice campus with 28 Acres, well equipped hostels, library, laboratories, spacious class rooms and play-fields has taken shape over a period of years. The munificence of the trustees of Sri Annavarapu Pundarikakshudu Scholorship Fund Trust and magnanimity of the Eastern Choultry who made handsome donations of Rs. 55,000/- and Rs.50,000/- respectively to the college provided the financial nucleus of the institution. The College also owes its existance not a little to the Bapatla Municipal Council and the generous and philanthropic spirit of a host of other donors and devoted men of action of Bapatla and the villages nearby.
